Permoseal and Den Braven join forces as Bostik South Africa
As Bostik South Africa enters a new phase, Den Braven Cape Town and Durban recently moved into Permoseal’s premises. The Johannesburg move will take place early in 2023. These offices and factory facilities are currently being rebranded to ensure their presence is felt. Chaitan Manga, Managing Director of Bostik South Africa says “It’s not only a physical rebranding process that we are going through, we are also focusing on our staff to ensure everyone integrates into the Bostik culture, sharing one common vision and purpose. It is of paramount importance that the people in our organisation remain excited about the journey ahead. This will no doubt translate into building on the strong business partnerships we have successfully established over many years”.

Bostik is the Adhesive Solutions segment of Arkema and make up a quarter of Arkema’s business. Present in 50 countries through 55 technical, distribution administration and sales centres, the turnover is 2 Billion Euros, they employ 6000 people and have 4 R&D Centres of Excellence.
We create adhesive solutions that address some of industry’s toughest bonding and debonding challenges, helping to design more sustainable products that contribute to a circular economy.
80% of manufactured products are thrown away within the first 6 months of their life. Adhesives are everywhere. We may not see them, but from the clothes we wear to the buildings we live in, from the electronic devices we use to the vehicles which transport us, adhesives are literally everywhere. They usually represent only a fraction of the objects they contribute to, yet adhesives are actual linchpins for many objects, allowing them to last longer, and to be repaired if they happen to break, enabling them to become ever smaller, thinner, lighter, saving resources as they are made and transported, making it possible for objects not only to be bonded, but also debonded, opening the door to the reuse and recycling of components, even going beyond their bonding role sometimes, acting as an insulator, for instance in construction, or as a coating to provide an extra layer of protection for the content of a packaging.
This is why we are confident in our ability to reach the Group’s ambitious targets of having at least 65% of our sales bringing a positive contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. All these properties, and many more have been developed by working with our customers, partners and stakeholders – a collaborative DNA that has become all the more essential to contribute to the transition to a more sustainable world. And just like our adhesive solutions can be intrical within our customers’ products, we see ourselves as a centre point within our value chain, helping the like-minded join forces to collectively raise the bar. As we move towards a world where resources are scarce, where circularity becomes the norm, where value shifts from ownership to use, we want to make sure we are, in every possible way, sustainability enablers.
Future plans for Bostik include tapping into the vast product range available through the 50 country network. We will also be establishing a Bostik Academy, a place where our customers, contractors and end users can come to experience and learn about our products and best practice.
