Bright ideas to survive loadshedding on offer at the 2023 Mitchell’s Plain festival
Western Cape based hardware store, Brights Hardware, will be sparking up the DStv Mitchell’s Plain Festival, taking place from the 1st to the 3rd of December 2023.

The Mitchells Plain Festival is the biggest community festival in the Western Cape, attracting more than 40,000 people every year. This year the festival will be highlighting alternative energy solutions – making it the perfect venue for the Brights Hardware stand which will be presenting festival goers with a multitude of load-shedding solutions, as well as summer deals, special offers, competitions and giveaways, and the chance to order products and sign up for the Brights loyalty programme.

“Load-shedding doesn’t have to leave us feeling powerless,” says Orlando Luis, CEO of Brights Hardware. “There are a multitude of solutions available to help you navigate through ongoing power cuts and the Brights stand will be showcasing these to festival-goers.”
A few of these solutions include rechargeable battery-powered LED lighting – of which there is a wide range of strips, lanterns, desk lights and torches available; smart LED lightbulbs that stay on during power cuts; solar lighting that varies from spotlights/security lights to solar lanterns, garden lighting and even pool lights; portable power banks to keep your cell phone charged; an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) which acts like a battery backup to your computer, modem, printer, speakers, microphone, and webcam; inverter and battery systems which can, depending on the size, keep several household appliances running during power outages – such as the TV, WiFi, refrigerator and several lights; and generators of various sizes and specifications that can also run a range of gadgets and appliances, depending on size.
Other solutions to keep load-shedding interruptions at bay will also be on show at the Brights stand. These included gas cookers and ovens that allow you to continue preparing meals without electricity.
These are just a few ideas of products that can be purchased to help you survive load-shedding. However, there are so many more! “Brights Hardware will have on-site experts at our Mitchells Plain Festival stand to provide advice on load-shedding solutions – whatever your needs may be – and we look forward to engaging with the public to share advice and ideas to help them through power cuts. All of these loadshedding solutions, as well as expert advice and guidance, is also available at our Mitchells Plain branch, situated at the Watergate Shopping Centre. We are proud to be celebrating six years since this store opened and continue to support a host of community-based CSI initiatives in Mitchells Plain,” concludes Luis.
Brights also have on-site experts in all of their other eight stores – situated in Boston, Blackheath, Langebaan, Plattekloof, Stonewood, Brackengate, Sunningdale, and the newly opened Richmond Park N7 store. An online store shopping experience is available at www.brights.co.za which offers delivery to anywhere in South Africa. Brights offers same-day delivery in the Western Cape for products purchased online and also has a tool hire service.
