A day to remember at the EST Golf Day
The popular EST annual Supplier Golf Day, hosted at the upmarket Houghton Golf Course, was the perfect opportunity for suppliers and retailers to mingle and socialise.
Elite Star Trading Africa (EST), founded in 2007, is a co-operative buying group that empowers small and independent FMCG and hardware retailers. The company has three divisions: FMCG – servicing the food and grocery industry; EST Building & Hardware – servicing independent hardware wholesalersand retailers, and STAR Group – offering a branded option for independent hardware retailers in line with large chains.
On the fairways
The much-anticipated golf day, held in March, was attended by all three divisions of the group and suppliers showed their support with fourballs and generous hole sponsorships. The big drawcard of the day was the hole-in-one incentive of a car at the 16th hole. (Unfortunately, no-one was lucky enough to win it.) The event was MC’d by magician/comedian Peter G, a highly acclaimed magician who combines comedy with the art of magic.
His interactive performances added an extra dimension of entertainment to an already fun-filled day.
Prizes galore
The golf day format followed a four-ball alliance with two scores to count plus an extra pink ball competition where team members alternated playing with the pink ball. There were fantastic prizes up for grabs for teams that finished with the pink ball still in play.
