This year, Q20 celebrates 75 years as South Africa’s leading multipurpose lubricant – an achievement made possible by the retailers and trade professionals who have supported the brand over the decades.
Originally developed in 1950 by local inventor William Robertson in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, Q20 was designed to displace moisture and prevent Robertson’s daughter’s Beetle from breaking down in rainy weather. But Robertson had a bigger vision: A multipurpose solution that could clean components, lubricate, protect against corrosion, and provide “20 answers to 20 questions.”
Three-quarters of a century later, Q20 remains a household name and an essential product in workshops, hardware stores, and industrial settings across South Africa. Now exported to multiple countries, Q20 continues to set the benchmark in lubrication and corrosion protection.
EXPANDING THE Q-RANGE
To mark this milestone, Q20 has introduced a new range of specialist products tailored for trade professionals and DIY enthusiasts:
