In 1969, Henkel invented the world’s first glue stick after studying the convenience of the twist-up lipstick applicator, and launched the Pritt brand. Since then, Pritt has become a household name around the world. In South Africa, it is a trusted partner by teachers and children throughout the country.
Henkel South Africa celebrated the 50th birthday of Pritt, one of South Africa’s most trusted school stationary brands. The ‘we craft for children’ event was held at the Henkel Alrode offices. Guests included employees, customers, key partners, the media – and most importantly a number of special guests – young children from Save the Children (STCSA).
An integral part of Pritt’s vision is to support motor and cognitive development of children through creative crafting. Imagination and handcrafting are crucial for a child’s development and it is for this reason that Henkel celebrated Pritt’s 50th birthday by hosting a special ‘we craft for children’ event.
‘We craft for children’ is a global initiative within Henkel that aims to raise funds to support NGOs that centre on childhood development and education. All Henkel employees from the major Pritt countries have been invited to immerse themselves in their own childhoods and to craft figurines representing what they wanted to be as a child. The three most actively participating countries will be selected to receive a donation for their chosen local organisation supporting children´s development.
Henkel South Africa has partnered with Save the Children South Africa (STCSA), an NGO that is uniquely placed to work as catalysts for transforming the lives of children. STCSA aims to support children, adolescents and young people to achieve their full potential and focuses on five thematic areas namely: Child Rights Governance, Child Protection, Education, Early Childhood Development and Health and Nutrition.
“This event has brought our key stakeholders together in support for childhood development and education of our future leaders. By giving shape to our own childhood dreams, we help the children of today to pursue theirs,” says Jeanine Else, country manager Consumer Adhesives.
