Makita moves to bigger premises

Rutherford Makita new building

The new Rutherford premises at 36 Fortune Street, City Deep, Johannesburg.

Rutherford, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Hudaco Trading, has relocated its Johannesburg headquarters to stunning new premises in City Deep. “Due to continued support from our broad customer base, we have outgrown the premises that we have occupied for several decades”, says Martin Peterson, Rutherford CEO.

The new facility has been refurbished to suit the specific needs of the four divisions, each a leader in its category. The move was carefully orchestrated and was seamlessly executed over the December period, minimising disruption to our customers. Martin adds, “Our staff complement worked together as one awesome team, to complete the move!”

After importing Makita products since the 1960’s, Rutherford was appointed sole distributor of the Makita brand in southern Africa in 1985 and today, through focused marketing, continuous innovation and world class after sales support, Makita has become a brand leader in the region. The new premises host the Johannesburg state-of-the art retail training facility and an impressive showroom filled with products on display that has been incorporated into the reception and counter sales area.

Rutherford’s divisions, Makita, Marine (sole distributor of Mercury outboards and MerCruiser inboards), V.I. Instruments and FTS Fasteners and Fixings are all situated in this new building.

Contact numbers remain the same and the company remains committed to providing its customers, with quality innovative products and exceptional customer service.
